Style, Substance and a hint of Rosemary's Baby
Milan Fashion Week Prada 2020
This week is inspo week at Mien Salon Spa and Mini Me. So with Milan fashion week behind us, I thought it would a perfect excuse to talk about an Italian designer whom I fell in love with over 20 years ago, Miuccia Prada! I was 24 when I took off to Italy with Sy for an indefinite holiday before opening Mien. What ended up being an 8 month working holiday began in Milan and my first stop was Prada. Yep, you guessed it; I spent all my money but still have some of those pieces in my wardrobe!
This week Prada kicked off their 2020 Spring Summer forecast with a versatile and vibrant collection inspired by the '20's '70's and '80's. There is a purity yet a directness to the Prada women's wear that I love. Especially the NYFW SS2020 collection which explores the power of women over their clothing and of style over fashion. The show centred around this theme.
Miuccia Prada's starting point for this collection was that "the person should be more important than the clothes".
The hair in this collection was mostly sleek and elegantly finished but there were also Mia Farrow inspired pixie cuts like the one she wore in Rosemary's baby. The eye make-up was bold with a dramatic 1920's-esque arcs of onyx just above the eyelids paired with velvety matte red lips.
Have a great week, Claudia xx
